The Tata Storme came in Nep
al at some time around 2012/2013 and has been receiving upgrades ever since. One of the best Tata cars, the Storme, gets its power from a 2.2 liter, DOHC VTT, VARICOR diesel powertrain paired to a manual gearbox. The more powerful VARICOR 400 diesel unit, essentially the same engine is equipped in the range-topping VX variant, linked to a new six-speed manual transmission.

Engine Specifications & Transmission
Under the skin, Safari Storme gets a 2.2 litre, 16-valve DOHC VTT VARICOR diesel engine good for 148bhp at 4000rpm along with 320Nm between 1,700 to 2,700rpm. Transmission duties are undertaken by a five-speed manual gearbox. A four-wheel drive electronic shift on fly mechanism along with limited slip differential is available on the top-spec variant. A more powerful version of the 2.2 litre diesel unit dubbed VARICOR 400 is available on the top-spec variant, producing 154bhp and 400Nm of torque. Mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox, the more powerful engine is available in 2x2 and 4x4 options.

Features
To start with, Storme’s front profile features projector headlamps with PES ring, roof rails are fitted on top, flanks feature body colored outside, rear view mirrors along with side footsteps and side cladding. Rear gets a chrome tailgate with TATA embossing, rear wash and wiper and a footstep for convenient entry. Seats are covered with black fabric across model series. The instrument cluster features 2 digital trip meters and analog tachometer with low fuel indicator warning.
Performance & Mileage
The two-wheel drive version delivers a slightly improved fuel economy at 14km/l. Outputting 9bhp more power, the diesel engine seems more agile while on the go. Despite weighing heavy, Strome propels to 100 kmph from rest within 15 seconds (approximate value)
